There was no audition
There was no preparation
I had been in Nigeria for like two days, y'all know jetlag is a scam
It was the 6th of December and I had been working with my uncle to design a costume based on Tanjiro Kamado, the main character in Kimetsu no Yaiba (ou Je pense, Demon Slayer).
I went to greet my mom as she was about to leave and she told me I would be performing tonight.
Now I'd never been to this but apparently it's called the December 6th Night Party with Pastor Chris which implies it is an all night event.
I was today years old when I found this out.
We'll get back to that later
I was supposed to be performing Wonderman, which I'd first performed at my graduation from GIC in 2012
At the time it was a remix of Wonderman by @tiniegram off of his Discovery album, and I released it on Soundcloud later (2019, peut-être?) with a different beat (will it ever come out on Spotify, thank God for J).
It's the only song my mom had ever seen me do at the time, and I guess she recommended it to the organizers and they a-oked it.
Aii, so I had to find the track, 'cause it'd been so long then I sent the track to Doreen, 'cause she's the plug and she sent it off to Pastor Deola (pas le CEO).
I listened to it 'cause I didn't really remember it.
Then I remembered that I didn't like the song but well, we move!
So it's 10PM, remember I didn't know it was a night party, I saw one of my friend's parents (he asked me why his son wasn't around, I felt like Cain when he said "I am not my brother's keeper", so I smiled and dipped).
I met a bunch of friends and eventually I found where all the members of my favourite secret society, the sons of ministry, were chilling and got to chilling also.
Hours go by, I ask "when does this thing end".
No one knows.
A lot of people were as clueless as I was.
My cousin goes off to sleep.
I should've followed.
Food comes around we chop, I had forgotten I was performing.
Someone comes around and tells one of the SOM that they're going up soon, and somehow I was pointed at to go first.
It was 3:30 AM at this point.
