WYNY 97 Had a decade run as an AC in New York from 1977 to 1987. It’s was a very successful in the late 70s & early 80s.
The station was running NBC’s 24 news service in the mid 70s.
When that service folded, NBC brass decided to do a soft AC format on 97.1 as Y 97 WYNY.
The station picked up the pace, slightly, as the station evolved dropping the Y97, and into New York 97
Into the 80s the station started calling itself 97 WYNY.
Station was a well produced station. Programming was good. Solid station
These jingles are from Jam’s Future Flow Jingle Package, which ran on WYNY in the early-mid 1980s.
