Snakes are important elements in their native environments, regulating the populations of their prey. They're exclusively carnivores, which means that they're predators. The usefulness of snakes ranges from their ecological importance to the economic importance of snakes in both pet and healthcare industries. Not all snakes are dangerous, however, there are numerous venomous snakes found all over Africa including Tanzania. The main cause of snakebite fatalities is due to lack of education. By learning about the different types of snakes – venomous and non-venomous, and how to identify these, as well as how to act when encountering a snake so as not to intimidate or scare them, will dramatically decrease the chances of being bitten.
