We wrote this track not long after prince passed away. I wouldn’t say it’s a tribute to Prince and Bowie but they definitely inspired the way we approached this song. Both prince and Bowie pioneered pop music through their originality. We tried to channel some of their confidence while writing Toe to Toe. Bowie wasn’t afraid to be himself and that’s what this track is about. Being yourself, not caring what people think and also giving other people permission to be themselves. We had an absolute ball writing toe to toe.
