The third lecture in Dr. Hammermeister's Invitation to Lacan series. Across an exploration of desire, jouissance and sexuation, Lacan's distinct understanding of subjectivity - and its bearing on clinical work - is illuminated. The series aims to introduce the work of French psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan, private physician of Picasso, a friend of the Symbolists, enfant terrible of the International Psychoanalytic Association, and 'superstar' of the Parisian intellectual scene. These lectures provide a systematic, lucid overview of his life and the most important concepts of his work. Dr. Hammermeister is a Berlin-based psychoanalyst. Previously he taught literature and philosophy in the U.S.A. and for many years published extensively on psychoanalysis, philosophical aesthetics and hermeneutics. Stillpoint Spaces Berlin is part of our international community: www.stillpointspaces.com Through workshops, learning modules, artist encounters, and more, we hope to offer a new way to engage with depth psychology.
