Vivaldi, The Four Seasons: Spring

This is a unique performance. Spring, from The Four Seasons, has never before been properly performed on Church Organ. This is because it is really unplayable on Church Organ! And that is, because it contains very fast repeating string passages. The best that can be done on a Church Organ is to approximate it in half-speed. Such performances do, indeed, exist. But now, with Church Organ software like Hauptwerk, and midi software like Cakewalk's Sonar driving Hauptwerk, it can be done in a completely uncompromising way. Even more is possible, as this video demonstrates. You can have the same Church Organ multiple times, so that a piece like Vivaldi's four seasons, which requires 5 violin sections and 3 solo violinists, can each be given its own manual. It is also possible, of course, to combine different Church Organs. I hope to do this in a future video. So stay tuned! In the video I have made use of Synthesia twice, so that you can clearly see what part is played by which Church Organ. I have also distributed all parts over different octaves, so that they do not overlap. This makes it easier to follow each violin section and each solo violinist. I find it very interesting, that, with the computer, we are not only able to make music never heard before, but also to give performances of old music in a way never heard before.
