I had an exclusive opportunity to go behind the scenes on a bear den survey with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Though one of Arkansas' first nicknames was "The Bear State", bear populations were very small by the first half of the last century. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission pioneered and set the standard for re-introducing black bears to a region. Their work is inspirational and adorable.
