TARJA | Victim Of Ritual | Video

“Victim of Ritual” is the first single from Tarja’s studio album “Colours in the Dark”, released in 2013. Directed by Florian Kaltenbach, the video was shot in Berlin and conceived as a short cinematic piece, running over six minutes and expanding the song’s themes into a visual narrative. The storyline introduces three characters trapped in repetitive, colourless routines: a painter, a dancer and an oboe player. Tarja appears as a transformative force, bringing colour, energy and renewal to their stagnant world. Her intervention, however, attracts the attention of dark figures who pursue her, setting up a dramatic final confrontation. The video mirrors the song’s message: breaking free from the patterns and pressures that constrain creativity and expression. Colours in the Dark marked a significant step in Tarja’s artistic evolution, blending rock, orchestral arrangements and vivid imagery. Mixed by Tim Palmer in Austin, Texas, the album was praised for its ambition and depth and became one of the standout rock releases of 2013. It is now a classic Tarja song, regoularly played live since. #tarjaturunen #nightwish #tarja
