Biggest Selling Singles of the Year 1988 -1996: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1C815366E69AFD79 Normally on these uploads I do a little intro at the beginning of the video but as my uploads are currently limited to 15m30s I couldn't fit it in so this is my take on 1995: 1995 - The Year Of Britpop, Oasis vs Blur, big selling novelty songs and a Michael Jackson comeback. In 1995 the girly hand slapping between Oasis and Blur reached a new high when both acts released their singles on the same day, the media went into overdrive over it. After 43 years of enter low climb high the greedy record companies came up with a new idea maximum first week sales in which singles were released to radio upto 6 weeks ahead of release and acts would promote the singles on tv a few weeks before release as soon as the record entered the chart it was deemed "Out of date" as a result high climbers started to quickly disappear and the Top 10 was full of new entries every week. As a result the charts became boring and predictable, it wasn't until the introduction of downloads in 2005 that this process would start to change. So sit back and spend 15 minutes going way back in time to the year 1995.
