August Burns Red's song "Ocean of Apathy" from their album "Constellations".
"Ocean of Apathy" is about our generation's failure to accomplish anything worthwhile to this point. Our generation is full of potential, but not enough drive to change the way our society works. Also, the song mentions our leaders who are lacking leadership. Political leaders, teachers, and friends are leading us astray.
The definition of apathy is: the absence or suppression of passion, emotion, or excitement. Our generation lacks that passion to make this a better world. There are people out there with that passion, but they're lost in the "ocean" of people who just lack the determination to be better as a whole.
"Where does our anchor lie?" Decide where you stand in certain arguments and beliefs, and stick up for them.
"Hush up, sit tight while sold a science and proved what's impossible." You hear teachers teaching theories such as evolution and the big-bang theory, yet students have no say in the discussion. Teachers must teach these theories, even if they KNOW they're brainwashing our society.
"We can fight the current, but we can't climb the waterfall." We can do something to make a difference ourselves, but we're going to need God's help to overcome the biggest of challenges.
"Why are we led by a misled generation, left to drown in an ocean of apathy?" It's not easy standing for what you believe in this corrupted world. However, it's time to think about what's really important, and strive to make a difference. Don't be apathetic. Be passionate about your relationships with family, friends, and God. Make a difference one step at a time.
Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
