We're privy to a moodier side of SBTRKT on the four tracks of 'Step In Shadows' following relatively exuberant drops for Grizzly, Brainmath and Ramp of late. The lurking Reese bass and clipped, minimal swing of 'Look At Stars' is a straight winner to open with, before he chases that particular dragon into the bittersweet darkside roll of 'Step In Shadows', primed for lost-in-it 3am moments. On the flip 'Colonise' introduces Sampha's subdued vox (is he saying "skin up" or "get up"?) over moody electro-house, kinda like a more trancey Boddika production, while 'Hide And Seek' gives some lighter Breakbeat relief.
