A song from the musical comedy "Axel an der Himmelstür" (Axel at heaven's gates) composed by Ralph Benatzky. It premiered in Vienna in 1936 and made Zarah Leander famous outside Scandinavia. In fact she was somewhat of an overnight sensation as her deep voice was considered very novel in a country used to classical operetta... "Kinostar" became the most famous song the others being "Eine frau von heut'" and "Gebundene Hände". Her succes led to her starring in the Austrian musical picture "Premiere" and eventually her contract with the German UFA studios... Slideshow of Zarah Leander.
