The story follows Ishmael, a sailor who joins the crew of the whaling ship Pequod, commanded by the vengeful Captain Ahab. Ahab is consumed by a monomaniacal quest to hunt and destroy Moby Dick, the giant white sperm whale that previously maimed him, leading the crew toward a tragic and inevitable confrontation with nature.
