Orthodontist Reacts To Disgusting Teeth Cleanings

How bad can tartar get? From a few stains to a tooth trapped in calculus. An orthodontist reacts to disgusting teeth cleanings, level 1 to 100. Orthodontist Dr. Ben Winters reacts to teeth cleaning videos ranked from level 1 to level 100: a hygienist scaling light tartar, Hot Cheetos packed into the grooves, whether broccoli cleans teeth, a man scaling his dog's teeth, white spots left by braces, heavy buildup and gum disease, charcoal toothpaste during braces, a tooth with a hole from decay, a clot removed after wisdom teeth and a giant piece of calculus with a whole tooth stuck inside. He explains that the ducts of the salivary glands under the tongue carry calcium, so tartar builds fast behind the lower front teeth. Gum loss between teeth leaves a black triangle. Sticky snacks pack into grooves, where bacteria turn them into acid that causes cavities. The mechanical force of chewing does clean teeth a little, but you still need to floss. Scaling a dog at home is risky because the tools are sharp. White spots around brackets are early cavities from acid that can't be reversed; they need fillings or can only be lightened. In the worst cases, inflammation eats away the bone and gum until the roots show and teeth can loosen or fall out. A piezoelectric scaler vibrates tartar off. Charcoal toothpaste, he warns, acts like sandpaper and causes sensitivity. • Tartar builds fastest behind the lower front teeth, near the salivary ducts. • Chalky marks from poor brushing around brackets are permanent early cavities. • Long-term buildup inflames the gums, destroys bone and can make teeth fall out. • Charcoal toothpaste is abrasive and can make teeth sensitive.
