Skin Cancer How To Tell If You Have It The ABCDE rule is a mnemonic used to help identify potential signs of skin cancer. Each letter represents a key characteristic to look for when examining a mole or other skin lesion: A - Asymmetry: One half of the lesion looks different from the other half. B - Border: The edges of the lesion are irregular, ragged, or blurred. C - Color: The lesion has different colors or shades, such as black, brown, tan, white, red, or blue. D - Diameter: The lesion is larger than 6 millimeters (about the size of a pencil eraser), although some melanomas can be smaller. E - Evolving: The lesion is changing in size, shape, color, or elevation. It is important to note that not all skin cancers follow these guidelines, and some non-cancerous moles may exhibit one or more of these characteristics. If you notice any changes in your skin, including the appearance of a new mole or changes in an existing mole, it is important to have it checked by a healthcare professional. #skincancer #skincancerawareness #melanoma #skincare #cancer #dermatology #skincancerprevention #sunscreen #skin #dermatologist #spf #health #pancreaticcancer #cervicalcancer #thyroidcancer #mohs #melanomaawareness #breastcancer #leukemia #antiaging #cancerawareness #cancersucks #cancersurvivor #throatcancer #infertility #botox #fibroids #plasticsurgery #herpes #mohssurgery
