My Horse Drawn Mower - 120 Years old

 

So the warranty is off this model by now. I rebuilt this Deering New Ideal mower a number of years ago and eah season I use it for some small pieces of hay close to ho,e. It requires some maintenance each year and I did this today. I also modified the seat to make it more ergonomic for me as a tall person. It is a 5 ft cut and a good team handles it nicely. It does not work well in lodged hay or very fine grass, none of these old mowers do. In future I hope to construct a canopy over it, similar to a tractor rops canopy, to keep the sun off the driver while using it and the rain off when idle. The canopy will provide a little extra weight as well to help with traction is heavy going.
