Hello and a warm welcome folks! It is almost time for yet another blockbuster clash in the Indian T20 League 2023. We have seen these two best friends open the innings for India and score runs for fun but here they go up against each other. Yes it is Rohit vs Kohli as Mumbai clash against Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium in a crucial game as both sides will look to strengthen their playoff hopes in the tournament. Mumbai are coming into this game on the back of a defeat to their arch-rivals Chennai in their last game and will hope to bounce back in this one.
Their famed top order has been inconsistent with their skipper Rohit Sharma not firing at all. However they have managed to win a couple of games due to the incredible batting from SKY and David which is a positive for them. Their bowling has not been up to the mark either and they have suffered another massive blow as Archer is ruled out of the season due to an injury. They have named Jordan as his replacement who can help them with their death bowling which has cost them a lot. Once again Chawla will be crucial if they want to get the two points here.
Bangalore on the other hand also suffered a loss in their last game against Delhi who are at the bottom of the table. They have also been very inconsistent and are dependent on Virat Kohli Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell to score the bulk of runs. However Lomror did play a great knock in the last game and they will hope that he can continue that in their middle order. Siraj led their bowling attack well in the first phase of the tournament but he has gone for runs in the last couple of games but now he has the experience and support of Hazlewood which makes them a bit more dangerous.
They will hope that everything falls into place and they get the victory. Will they be able to do the double over Mumbai? Or will the home side avenge their previous defeat? Jason Behrendorff gets the big fish Virat Kohli! The Mumbai players are celebrating but the umpire remains unmoved. Rohit Sharma takes the review straight away. This is back of a length and around off Virat Kohli charges down the track and tries to heave it away but gets the slightest of edges behind where Ishan Kishan pouches it safely. There seems to be a deflection and the UltraEdge confirms it.
Kohli has to walk back now! Chawla lands this one short and around middle Faf du Plessis this time makes room and punches it through covers for a beautiful boundary. Faf is taking charge... Fuller length delivery on the off-stump line Faf gets under the ball and crunches it uppishly over the mid-off fielder. One bounce and the ball goes over the ropes for four runs. Good length delivery outside the off-stump line Rawat comes down the track and slaps it hard over the covers fielder. The ball went like a tracer bullet for four runs.
Time for the strategic timeout at the end of the powerplay. Mumbai Indians got a brilliant start thanks to a sizzling spell from Jason Behrendorff first up getting rid of Virat Kohli and Anuj Rawat in his first 2 overs. Skipper Faf du Plessis is looking in red hot form again and has scored 26 off 14 balls sharing a 40 run unbeaten stand with Glenn Maxwell (23* off 14). No other MI bowler has put an impact so far and the men in blue would look to take wickets soon to restrict RCB as low as possible on a belter of a surface. This is how Maxwell welcomes the bowler. Back of the length delivery on the middle stump line Maxwell swivels and helps it away over the deep backward square leg region. The ball goes flat and over the ropes for 56 m six.
