AT Day 52: Reed Creek Campsite to MM 571.2 and Home. It was a beautiful day for a hike. It was supposed to rain all day, but we were blessed with blue skies. I spent some healing time sitting beside the creek at the campsite in the morning, and we walked through fog early in the morning. Our plans changed mid-day, and we decided to hike almost 19 miles to reach a road crossing where Curtis could come pick us up and take us back to my home. We met a frog, climbed a bunch of fence stiles, forded Lick Creek, and found a gnome house. The end of the day brought us a beautiful view of Burke’s Garden from Chestnut Knob Shelter, an old fire marshal’s cabin. It was wonderful to see my husband at the end of the day. We didn’t get to Asheville until after midnight, closing out a very long day for us.
