Tushar Deshpande added to the RCB woes by dismissing Mahipal Lomror for a duck.At 15/2, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell went hammer and tongs against CSK bowlers and added a 126-run stand to put RCB on top.
Maxwell blasted 8 sixes and 3 fours during his whirlwind knock of 76 off 36 while du Plessis struck 62 off 33 studded with 5 fours and 4 sixes.
With 86 needed off 8 overs, the game was in the balance and that's when Theekshana provided the crucial breakthrough by inducing a false stroke from Maxwell. CSK hit back in quick succession when du Plessis also perished soon in a bid to accelerate.
However, Dinesh Karthik kept RCB chase in hunt with 28 off 14 but his dismissal turned the game in favour of CSK.
Earlier, Opting to bowl, it was a struggle for RCB's bowling attack as the CSK batters took them to the cleaners from the onset.
It was raining boundaries in Bengaluru as Dube and Conway dealt in fours and sixes to take CSK to 165 for two after 15 overs.
Conway departed in the 16th over, cleaned up on a beautiful dipping yorker from Harshal Patel.
Dube reached his fifty with a six off Parnell, but departed thereafter, caught by Siraj at deep midwicket while going for another big hit.
