China's Xi Jinping orders PLA to train for 'actual combat' after simulating attack on Taiwan

Chinese President Xi Jinping has told the military to strengthen training for 'actual combat'. He told this to the PLA Navy's southern theatre command during a naval inspection trip. According to Chinese state media CCTV, Xi said the military must resolutely defend China's territorial sovereignty and maritime interests. Beijing is enraged as the U.S. and Philippines are holding their largest-ever military drills this week in the South China Sea. The latest U.S.-China faceoff came after Beijing conducted military drills to intimidate Taiwan after President Tsai Ing-wen visited the U.S. last week.
