In the 1962 movie “Taras Bulba”, the Cossacks of the Steppes (today’s Ukraine) come together. Taras wants to fight oppression and make the Steppes free. He says to a Cossack regiment leader, “You swore to wear a patch over one eye until the Steppes were free. Cover both eyes, Tymoshevsky, so you cannot see yourself!” Taras Bulba then says to the entire Cossack assembly, “Look to the heavens, Cossacks! The sun stands at the equinox. The Holy Easter dawns.
