The IEC (Importer Exporter Code) registration process in India is a mandatory requirement for individuals or businesses that wish to import or export goods in the country. Here is a general overview of the process:
1. Apply for an IEC online by visiting the DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade) website.
2. Fill in the application form with all the required details, including the name of the applicant, PAN (Permanent Account Number), and the nature of the business.
3. Submit the application along with the required documents, such as PAN card, GST registration certificate, and a passport-size photograph of the applicant.
4. Once the application is successfully submitted, you will receive an acknowledgement receipt with a unique application number.
5. The DGFT will process the application and issue the IEC in same day, if all the information and documents provided are in order.
6. You can track the status of your application on the DGFT website using the acknowledgement number.
7. Once the IEC is issued, you will be able to import or export goods as per the terms and conditions mentioned in the IEC certificate.
