On Monday, October 3, 2022, at mid-morning, we left Page, AZ in a monsoon type rainstorm. We drove through Marble Canyon on our way to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The scenery was limited due to the clouds and rain, but we could see several waterfalls coming down off of the mesas that surrounded us. Even though it was raining, what we could see was absolutely incredible. As we traveled closer to the North Rim, we noticed that the Aspen trees were fully dressed in their fall attire. The brilliant yellow leaves glowed as we traveled through one Aspen Forest after another.
Eventually we reached the North Rim. It was still pouring down rain and the clouds were so thick we didn't think we'd actually be able to see the canyon. We decided that since this was the first time we've been in this part of the park, we'd go ahead and do the scenic drive along the rim. We weren't disappointed. Seeing the North Rim of the Grand Canyon filled with clouds was a really interesting sight. Eventually it stopped raining, making our sightseeing a lot more pleasant. We visited each viewpoint along the scenic drive and did a few short hikes to overlooks along the canyon walls. We also stopped to take some pictures of the amazing Aspen trees along the road. After finishing the Scenic Drive, we backtracked and returned to the Visitors Center and hiked the Bright Angel Point Trail. It was a half mile hike, but the trail was very steep. We took in some spectacular views of the canyon from the trail. Once again, it was time to leave our destination and make our way back home. That's all for this trip, but rest assured, we'll be wandering to somewhere again soon!
