1972s THE OTHER, directed by Robert Mulligan, is one of the best horror films of the 1970s. It's also one that's extremely hard to find. Based on the best selling novel by Thomas Tryon, The Other tells a dark and macabre tell of eleven year old twin brothers Holland and Niles Perry. Initially, the world of the twins appears idyllic but things soon turn sinister and deadly.
I saw this film late one night on my local PBS station and periodically would try to hunt it down over the years. That late night viewing really haunted me. Watching it again, multiple times in a row, all these years late The Other did not lose its power to shock and horrify.
If you are able to find a copy of The Other, or happen to come across it late at night, do not pass up the chance to see this underrated film.
If you've already seen the film or don't care about spoilers I highly recommend watching, "The Making of the THE OTHER" https://youtu.be/4j42hIbcVG8 by Adam Zanzie.
