Actor Mandy Moore had to undergo a dramatic change when preparing for her role as Rebecca in the show. NBC’s hit show This Is Us takes a dynamic approach to storytelling in that the show is situated both in the past and in the present. Many shows, such as HBO’s ‘House of the Dragon’, choose to age their characters by hiring different actors altogether, but in This Is Us it was all down to the makeup department to age the characters in the series. Mandy Moore had to undergo over four hours of makeup before filming scenes where her character is aged in her sixties. As a result of the detailed process, fans of the show may also have noticed that present-day Rebecca is rarely present in the show. Well, this is because the extensive makeup process is so long-winded that it would have been impossible to keep to schedule if present-day Rebecca had featured more in the show.
