Fast real-time sensor reading using BLE advertisements, an ESP32, a CC2540 or an Adafruit Bluefruit

The aim of this project was to see how fast it is possible to read temperature sensor (TMP102) data in real-time using only BLE advertisements transmitted from an ESP32. The advertisements were captured using either the BLE radio embedded in a MacBook Pro or a PC, a Adafruit Bluefruit LE sniffer, or a Texas Instruments CC2540 BLE sniffer dongle. Data were displayed using Python. The video describes how to use each of these methods and compares the rate at which data can be read. I keep switching between "integrated", "embedded" and "bleak" method, but they all mean the same thing. Overall the Bluefruit LE sniffer was the best, being able to sample at 20 Hz, the same rate at which the ESP32 was transmitting advertisements.
