Singer, actress, model and talent manager Patricia Apollonia Kotero was born and raised in Santa Monica, California but, her parents moved around quite a lot so, she did spend some time in San Fernando and San Pedro. The eldest of four children of Mexican immigrants, she also speaks fluent Spanish and Italian. Her middle name that she would adopt as her stage name came from the Olympian deity in classic Greek and Roman mythology named Apollo, recognized as a god of music and dance, the Sun and light, poetry, and more. At the age of 16, Apollonia would drop out of high school to pursue a career as a model while also working a regular 9 to 5. Her parents were going through a divorce at the time so, her paycheques were a great help to her mother. She would admit, many years later though, that dropping out was the biggest mistake she could have ever done.
