#asmrnewspaperreading
Opening a newspaper helps me to remember what day it is. Tuesday? Thursday, perhaps? Most of the time I have no idea.
Recognizing weekends is doable but weekdays? No can do, all the same sh*t. 🙂
About 4 months a year, I purchase a newspaper subscription and during this period, one of the best things about it, is listening for the newspaper delivery person to come by. This is what I know about them: they drive a light van and stop by between 5:10 AM and 5:45 AM, on Saturdays between 7:00 and 7:15 AM. They like to slam the car door. They wear rubber-soled shoes. They enjoy Lady Gaga, the Jonas Brothers and Beyoncé. Sometimes they sing along and it's always in tune and full of enthusiasm but they will never win The Voice.
When I'm listening for them to arrive after one of those nights spent in the teeth of insomnia, it is the sound of their van that fills me with relief and hope. Relief because I realise a new day has begun and other people have been awake for hours, just like I have. The world is still there. The birds, who by then have begun their cheerful song, are also still there. And soon, I'll get up and forget about the restless night and enjoy another day.
I'll check the mailbox and there will be a newspaper in there. An hour prior, that same paper was in the hands of the Lady Gaga-fan who drives around spreading the news of the world all over our village.
And soon after that I'll check some YouTube comments and they will bring a smile to my face and fill my heart with warmth. (Thank you! 💟)
I hope you will enjoy listening to the sounds of newspaper pages gently being turned in this video. This time, we're reading some Belgian, German and Portuguese newspapers. I picked up the non-Belgian newspapers on trips we made abroad a while ago.
I hope you'll have a marvellous day and a restful night.
