From April 2020, this is episode #2 with special guest Kiko Navarro, an international and prolific DJ and producer from the Balearic island of Maiorca, Spain. Head honcho of his label imprint "Afroterraneo," the extension of his deep love and passion for Afro and Soulful house sounds, is the core fabric of his music journey and roots.
Kiko is widely known also for classic and traditional vintage house sounds and, of course, disco, with a career spanning over 20 years, a beautiful list of timeless releases on ground-breaking, influential labels like Local Talk, Wonderwheel, Pacha, BBE, Yoruba, Large, Nite Grooves, including his own early days' label imprint, Flamingo Discos.
At the start of the pandemic, Kiko and I spoke about some of the actions and initiatives emerging in Spain's Balearic Islands for the dance music industry and communities. The influx of online streaming and what he was planning for online broadcasts and other content ideas during that time. We also discussed balancing spiritual, home, family, and professional life. I loved revisiting this conversation. Kiko's strength, heart, and passion for music, life, and giving to the world are beautiful, even during that time of uncertainty.
