Bear Point Peak in Peters Creek, Alaska

 

This is such a great little mountain you can walk the ridge line forever once you make it up! It’s a burning and one of the steepest in the area. It’s not as difficult as you might think to hike to stand atop the precipitous, gully-scarred face of Bear Point. But it’s not easy, either. The 2-mile hike (4 miles round trip) ascends 2,100 feet and can be tricky. But your reward is an amazing view in all directions, from the Kenai Peninsula to Denali and the Chugach Mountains to Matanuska Peak. Lots of snow still up there as it’s only May. I will be guiding up this beast and doing some backcountry this summer. 3 to 5 day trips.
