TITLE: Evolution of build systems. From Make to Gradle and what is next? by Alexander Nozik, INR RAS At a first glance, build tooling is not important. It does not give any “added value” or new algorithm. But if you ask software engineers, they will tell you that build tooling and dependency management are key elements in the ecosystem. In this seminar Alexander will discuss with the audience the evolution of build systems from Make to Gradle. The discussion will focus on how automatic dependency and task management changes the ecosystem. Ultimately, answers for questions like “What is wrong with Gradle?” and “What to expect next?” will be sought.
