Download our android app for job oriented courses https://clpsheldon.page.link/x3kb In this tutorial i have discussed briefly, what are tie beams?, the various advantages of providing tie beams and the difference between tie beam and plinth beam. At the end i have shown you how to do the quantity calculation for tie beam. Watch the complete tutorial to know how to do the estimation for tie beam and the difference between tie beam and plinth beam Quantity surveying topics compiled PDFs 👇🏻👇🏻 http://store.civiltutorofficial.com/ Subscribe 2nd channel 👇🏻 @Civil Tutor Official 2nd channel 👇🏻 https://www.youtube.com/Civiltutorofficial The beam which connects two or more structural members to make the structure more stiff and stable is called as tie beam. Tie beams are provided both in substructure as well as in superstructure. These are mainly provided in roof truss and at plinth level. Tie beam sometimes works as a strap beam to take all the stresses due to column eccentricity on footing. These can be used to support walls or any other partitions among them. When the height of story is higher than the normal height of the structure, then these types of beams are provided. Hence they act as length breakers for the columns to prevent them from buckling. This type of beam is provided between footings to provide a connection between them in order to avoid the settlement of columns or foundation. Advantages of Tie Beam: Tie beams carry axial compression. Tie beams prevent Columns from buckling. They provide connection between Column footings. They hold the longitudinal bars together while placing the concrete. They keep the footings in position during seismic events. Difference between tie beam and plinth beam : Before knowing about the difference between tie beam and plinth beam we must know, what is plinth level? It is the level where the substructure ends and superstructure starts. In simple words, it is the topmost level of ground. The beam which is provided at the plinth level is known as plinth beam. This is the first beam constructed after the completion of foundation. If we talk about the difference between tie beam and plinth beam. There is actually no difference between them. Plinth beam is also a type of tie beam. When the tie beam is provided at plinth level, it is known as plinth beam. Which means, the only difference is the height at which they are provided. Plinth beam is only provided at plinth level but tie beam is provided anywhere above or below the floor level. #quantitysurveying #civiltutor #ErMuyeenMubarak #tiebeam #materialquantity Quantity surveying Lec 1 https://youtu.be/cz4WfpVkSXA Quantity surveying lec 2 https://youtu.be/N7HH57XdfL0 Quantity surveying lec 3 https://youtu.be/bsBMvgi-ZQM What is water cement ratio?
