Considered one of his generation’s premier field guide illustrators, David Sibley and his Sibley Birding Guides have redefined what the modern day birding guide should look like. In this week’s video, I sit down with David at the Mass Audubon Museum of American Bird Art (MABA) to discuss his new book, “What It’s Like to be a Bird”, and talk about his exhibit of birding art, which will run at the museum through the end of March 2021.
David’s exhibit provides fantastic images and diagrams from the eyes of a true appreciator of the natural world and bird life, making his work a must-see attraction. However, please note that due to ongoing health concerns and a need to regulate museum attendance, you will need to make an advance reservation at the MABA to see his incredible artistry. But David’s exhibit is not the only reason to make the trek to Canton, Massachusetts. The 121-acre sanctuary that houses the museum contains 2 miles of trails, perfect for hiking, birding, and observing the natural world around you.
I have been a long time supporter of Mass Audubon and have taught many programs at MABA for almost 20 years now. It is one of my favorite Mass Audubon properties and I always enjoy my time there birding, photographing, seeing new exhibits or attending live programs. If you are not a member of the Massachusetts Audubon Society please consider becoming a member today.
