We give you a step by step guide on how to connect Oculus Quest 2 to your PC using SteamVR and Virtual Desktop if wireless. We also test wired connection to best game available, Half Life Alyx, on the Oculus Quest 2. What you Need:
Oculus Quest 2- https://amzn.to/39DoA3H
PC: You’ll want to make sure that you have a VR ready PC. For reference, we are using an MSI Alpha 15 laptop, which isn’t top of the line or anything to go wild about - but still does well with Half Life Alyx: https://amzn.to/3quOoWp
If you don’t already have Steam, go ahead and download the application and create an account. In the store, search for and install SteamVR Performance Test. Running this will test your system through a few different levels of visual rendering power and will determine how ready your system is for VR.
For a wired connection, keep in mind only certain high speed USB cables will be compatible. We found a list of supported cables on Reddit and bought the 10 ft Anker Cable at $22: https://amzn.to/39GWrsn
We also bought a corner USB connector, so that the cable goes down instead of out: https://amzn.to/3ini1WH
