In this video, I open a pre-built HP Pavilion Model TP01-1016 to find out just how upgradable this Intel i5-10400-based desktop is by disassembling the case to see its internal components. We'll look at its storage and memory options, explore its M.2 slot and see if we can add or upgrade anything else inside, including the motherboard, power supply, and any possible graphics cards. 00:00 Introduction 00:34 Features Upon Features 01:32 On Your Mark, Get Tools, Go 07:32 Final Thoughts I will maintain a list of components that have been successfully upgraded below. ► CPU Thanks to Ted Branston: Another worthwhile modification is to change the, inadequate, stock cpu cooler. I bought a "Golden Field ICE500" from Amazon for less than $10. It looks almost identical to the stock one but is twice the height and has a copper base. It screws to the motherboard just like the original. I used the original fan from the stock HSF on the replacement unit. Performance is much improved with no noise penalty. ► Graphics Thanks to Ted Branston, a possible upgrade choice: My model of this HP came with an "Nvidia GT 1030 2GB DDR5" fitted. This card only uses 35w and needs no external power connector. My machine has the 180w PSU fitted. So if HP sell them with this card then the PSU must be adequate. It performs quite well really, especially on older games. Thanks to pasta1298: I can confirm that adding 4gb (8gb total) of matching ram from eBay and an nvidia T400 (PNY model number VCNT400-PB) allows it to play Fortnite on medium settings at 60fps. ► Memory Replaced Samsung with 2x16GB Teamgroup VulcanZ DDR4 3200 model TLZRD432G3200HC16CDC01. Speed automatically downgraded to 2400 MHz. Thanks to Justin K: Added an 8GB Crucial DDR4-2666 model (CT8G4DFRA266) to the existing Samsung. ► M.2 SSD Upgraded to a Kingston A2000 250GB NVMe model SA2000M8/250G. Please see the following video for instructions on restoring Windows and the factory image to the NVMe: https://youtu.be/cVRVgrOl1M8 Thanks to Justin K: Added a 500GB Samsung 970 EVO (MZ-V7E500BW) and used EaseUS Todo Backup. ► Power Supply ► Case Fan Items in this video: ESD Strap ► https://amzn.to/2o88sjc Torx Bits ► https://amzn.to/3haMLd4 My Gear: My Shure Microphone ► https://amzn.to/2P9KTC4 My Focusrite Audio Interface ► https://amzn.to/2oaKZOg My Canon EOS Rebel T7i Camera and Lens (Kit) ► https://amzn.to/2PovX4C #HPPavilion #i5 Thank you to all my subscribers and viewers!
