here is a breakdown of the housing process in korea:
- you can use different housing apps like zigbang or dabang to look for places & contact realtors through there. you make an appointment with the realtor and go look at places together
- korea's housing system requires a key money deposit. for one-year officetel contracts, it usually starts from $10,000 and the more you increase your key money deposit ($20k, $50k, etc.), the cheaper your monthly rent becomes -- this may differ depending on your house owner, but for example:
* $10k key money = $900 monthly rent
* $30k key money = $850 monthly rent
* $50k key money = $800 monthly rent
- there's a system called "jeonse" and it's a two-year contract in which you put down a key deposit of $100k+ (the places shown in this video have a key deposit of $270k+) and you don't pay monthly rent
- once you sign the contract, you have to pay realtor fees and set your move-in date
