The Informal Economy Losing Jobs

 

The International Labour Organization has warned that the continued sharp decline in working hours globally due to the COVID-19 outbreak means that 1.6 billion workers in the informal economy stand in immediate danger of having their livelihoods destroyed. An informal economy, informal sector or grey economy is the part of any economy that is neither taxed nor monitored by any form of government. GBN’s Rena Pierre has been speaking with people in rural communities about how their lives have been impacted.
