About a month ago I started removing everything from my layout and paced it away into totes and boxes. This was one of the most emotionally draining days I've had. After 8 years of working in this very room that I am filming in today, building my model railroad, it is now an empty room with just a desk and computer.
Altogether, it took nearly 2 weeks to break down the entire layout and clear out all the clutter, which included an N scale layout that I was storing under the HO layout. I was able to save Leakin Creek section and Rockwood section. I had to destroy most of everything else. I was able to save a few pieces of scenery along with turnouts and flex track. That was it. Everything else went into the dumpster.
Time to rebuild a new layout in the new house, wherever that will be. As of today, we have not made an offer on a new place, but have one in mind, and will be looking at more in the coming week.
