Chicken broke a blood feather

Sometimes a chickens feather breaks and it can bleed. Not all feathers will bleed. Only some like in the tail have blood supply. Hence the name "blood feather" or a pin feather. This teen chicken must have been pecked at by the others. Which is no big problem if found early. You can simply stop the bleeding by applying a first aid powder to slow and stop the bleed, but in this case it wasn't working and kept dripping. Which is a bigger problem for this bird since it will just keep attracting the others to peck at it. Hence a potential heath issue if left untreated. So we had to step in and just pull the feather out. The bird actually had instant relief. It was shaking prior and happy as soon as it was out. Quick solution for a broken pin feather when needed. She was very happy afterwards and stopped shaking and started to give her happy coos. Back she went with the others and zero interest from the flock. Happy ending. Fyi... If you don't handle your chickens often like I do a second person to hold them might be easier and calmer for the bird. In this case she was happy to be held backwards and knew she was happy to be receiving help.
