A luminous object is one that gives off light. In other words, it glows (or shines) of its own accord. To be able to glow, the object must have its own source of energy. Best examples of luminous objects are the sun, stars, light bulb etc. Objects that do not reflect light are known as non luminous objects. Examples of non luminous objects are wood, plastics, metals etc. Properties of Luminous Objects and Non Luminous Objects Luminous bodies like the sun, a gas flame and an electric light filament are visible since they are light sources.
