On Friday afternoon we had the chance to speak with the 2020 Eurovision entrant Lesley Roy whos currently living in New York City. Highlights of the interview were that Lesley was thinking for years. now to submit a song something that happened this year. Due to the cancellation of the event this year, due to the pandemic outbreak, RTE thinks it would be a national justice to re-affirm Lesley's participation in2021 although no official statement has been made yet.
The song for the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest is about telling your story no matter what happened to you. In terms of music, it was a new sound for Ireland. Lesley explains that despite turning her focus in songwriting two years after her debut album, she always considered a return on stage. Her sister was the first person to listen to the 2020 Eurovision entry and she absolutely loved it getting all her friends ready to fly the Irish flag in Rotterdam.
Lesley revealed that she has been working with ThisIsPopBaby for the stage presentation and it would have been big and bold with a spectacular end with everyone's hands in the end. But if Lesley could ignore the EBU rules, what would she bring on stage as a lucky charm.
For the May 16th show EUROVISION: EUROPE SHINE A LIGHT Lesley will sing her part in the main song "Love Shine a Light" and then present her Eurovision 2020 entry. No matter the anticipated RTE confirmation, Lesley is anyway thinking about her 2021 Eurovision entry and absorbs all the comments made this season so she can make it better. For us, she doesn't need to change anything. Performing out of the heart is the best recipe.
