Eight Sleep Pod Review. Is this the mattress of the future right now? In 2021 it sure could be. Eight Sleep is one of very few smart mattresses. It's technically a foam mattress, but it has a cover and smart heating/cooling system that is attached.
Design: The bed itself is a foam mattress with a neutral foam feel. It's a comfortable mattress that's about 10-12" thick. As is, the bed is about a medium, but it does get firmer when you put the cover on the mattress. We do think it will be fine for all sleeping positions.
Tech: The smart features with the Eight Sleep Pod all center around two things: (1) the smart app and (2) the heating/cooling system. The smart app has a number features, but among the coolest are the customizable schedules and integration with Alexa, etc. The heating/cooling system allows the bed to be cooled or heated on-demand and on a schedule. It works by pumping cold or warm water through the cover of the mattress. It actually has little veins that circulate through the mattress. It works as described, but it is really odd. We do think, however, it makes Eight Sleep one of the best mattresses for hot sleepers because the 8 Sleep Pod is an actual cooling mattress.
