'Dreams of a Mother-To-Be’ is an experimental work exploring the thoughts and eagerness of a mother whose baby is still in her womb. The mother here (as you can imagine) is a dancer who is used to dancing, even in her dreams! But this time her dream takes a different turn. Her heart melts when she hears her baby's first word, "Amma!". She feels unbounded joy when she sees the first wobbly steps of her baby as she waits at the other end to let the baby fall into her arms! She wakes up from her dream of course, but only to find that this is soon going to be real! The music used for this piece is from my production Ashrutam - The Unheard Voice (kudos to Rohith Bhat and Sharat Prabhat). I had performed this on Mother's Day as part of the Art Heals series curated by Samarpana for Arts and Wellbeing (https://www.instagram.com/samarpanaforartsandwellbeing) to raise funds for the daily wage workers during the Covid-19 pandemic.
