As improvisers it's important that we are able to solo over this progression in a fluent and meaningful way. To do that we need to practice playing over 2-5-1's as much as possible. In this lesson you will learn 3 options for using chords in your solos over a 2-5-1 progression. Chords sound great in gypsy jazz guitar solos so it's important to learn some cool voicings that will work for us. Here are the 3 options in the key of C major. Dm7-G7-C are the 3 chords of the 2-5-1 progression: 🎸1. Replace the G7 with C#7#9 (this gives a cool crunchy sound) 🎸2. Play XX3553 for Dm7 then XX3453 for the G7 (this is a cool and smooth sound) 🎸3. Play a Dm9 on the 10th fret XX10,10,10,12 then XX9,10,9,12 for G7 (this is a classic sound) Have fun and stay inspired!
