Heysel subway station serves the Brussels Expo area, and is therefore located close to the Atomium, one of Brussels' landmarks. Consisting of nine spheres connected by tubes, the Atomium represents the unit cell of an iron lattice in body centered cubic (bcc) configuration, magnified by several orders of magnitude. At this station, there are two elevators using a screw drive system that is usually only used for platform elevators. They are located at one end of the two platforms, while there are ramps at the other end. Two more screw drive elevators can be found at Gare Centrale subway station, also in Brussels: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2k2heU09qo. Technical specifications: Brand: Ebel Capacity: 975kg / ~2150lbs / 13 people Type: screw drive Year built: 2004 Travel distance: 2 floors
