Caring for children in hospital. A film about how one Nottingham hospital looks after the children in its care. Nurses and doctors on the unit explain how they try to reassure children from the moment they first arrive at the out-patients clinic. Leela Kapila, the consultant paediatrician, does not wear a white coat but works on the ward in a sari. Teachers work with the children in small groups or, if necessary, at their bedside. Parents do not have to contend with set visiting times and can sleep on the ward next to their children.
