In this video we talk about why I love group travel and the 6 Benefits of Group Travel after spending the last 12 months group traveling with Remote Year.
This isn't going to be a group vs solo travel type video. I am just going to share with you the reasons why I love group travel. Solo travel and solo traveling has it's benefits as well which I will talk about in a future video after I've done more solo travel. But for now we are going to talk about group travel. There are all kinds of ways to group travel. Your friend could organize a group travel or event or you can travel in a program like the one I travel with, Remote Year. What ever you enjoy, small group tour or big group tours - you'll find some pretty cool reasons why I love group travel.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with traveling alone and I plan on doing a lot of solo travel in my future but I've realized that I love group travel and plan to travel with a group more in the future as well.

Why I Love Group Travel
For those that haven’t been following me: In March of 2019 I left my job as a corporate lawyer to travel full time as a travel vlogger. I decided to start my adventure traveling in a group program called Remote Year.
Here are the 8 Things I love about group travel:
1 - Someone else worries about all the logistics, you get to focus on the experience. If you’re anything like me you love travel but aren’t keen on dealing with all the logistics. Group travel programs handle all that for you. The program I travel with, RY handles my flight, accommodations, co-working space so I can work, and provides a team that handles anything that comes up. If a flight is canceled - I don’t have to deal with it. If a toilet doesn’t flush, I don’t have to deal with contacting the owner and coordinating getting it fixed.
I know some people love the planning side of travel - and obviously this tip doesn’t apply to you! But for those that hate the logistical side of travel - group travel is great for avoiding that!
2 - You develop friendships with people you might not have associated with otherwise. Group travel for me has been very similar to my time in the military. You take a bunch of different people from different places with different backgrounds throw them together and they bound over the shared experience.
3 - Experiencing moments and meals are sometimes better when you have someone to share them with. I have had so many first moments this last year. My first time seeing Machu Piccu, first time hiking Patagonia, first time eating durian . All those moments were made more special by having friends to share those moments with. Meals are also more enjoyable when shared with others.
4 - You can save money! Cost can be reduced by traveling in a group. Everything from accommodations, to passes to visit sites like Machu Piccu are reduced with by numbers!
5 - You get different perspectives. I mentioned earlier that you end up meeting and traveling with people from a zillion different backgrounds, that have different life experiences. These different perspectives can enhance your own travel experiences and understanding of the places you visit.
6 - It’s a bit safer. You are just less of a target when you’re with a bunch of other people. Safety in numbers argument.
