唐骝千创办了美国首个上市私募基金Reich&Tang。他也非常热心公益事业,捐款超过2亿美金,他还是大都会博物馆第一位华裔董事。 A rare joint interview with Chinese-American financier and philanthropist Oscar Tang and his wife, scholar and documentarian Dr. Agnes Hsu-Tang in this episode of "The New York Lounge." Host Tan Lin speaks with the Tangs about their leadership gift to the New York Historical Society's groundbreaking exhibition "Chinese in America: Exclusion/Inclusion" and the Tang family's three- generational story of "inclusion" as students in America. Tang's maternal grandfather was Wen Bingzhong (1862-1938), one of the 120 young boys sent by the late Qing imperial court to study in America as part of the Chinese Education Mission in the late 19th century. Wen was the first Chinese to be documented in the Northampton, MA census in 1880. Wen later served as a high-level foreign service official after his return to China. Oscar Tang's father was P. Y. Tang (1898-1971), a Boxer Indemnity Scholarship graduate from MIT, who became a leading textile industrialist in post-1949 Hong Kong and a dedicated philanthropist to education and civil society. Further to their last conversation on "The New York Lounge," host Tan Lin revisits Dr. Agnes Hsu-Tang about her heritage as a descendant of two Chinese historical figures, Xu Guangqi (1562-1633) and Ji Xiaolan (1725-1805), who each served as Grand Minister of the Empire respectively during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Dr. Hsu-Tang speaks about the influences of her family history on her work as a Chinese-American scholar and bi-lingual presenter of documentary series on Chinese archaeology and contemporary Chinese society for Discovery, History Channel, and PBS, including "Chinesenesss" and "Mysteries of China."
