Margaret's hopes of reconciling with Gia falters upon learning that Gia continues to blame her for her daughter's death. Though filled with guilt, Margaret is unable to tell Gia the truth for fear of being completely despised by the latter. Wanting to still earn her daughter's forgiveness someday, Margaret then vows to carry the secret about Gia's child to her grave. Meanwhile, Francis continues to connive with Albertus in order to bring down Margaret and Gia. He soon makes Gia recall the bitter memories of her child's death as he secretly hires an investigator to dig deep into her past.
