At first, Meta Knight had surmised that Pit ran off alone because he wanted to be the hero of the story. It only made sense if it was thought that way.
But of course, with Pit, things were a bit more unpredictable.
"LADY PALUTENAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!" Pit yelled at the top of his lungs as he dashed down south to where the void of darkness that now occupied the barren middle point made its home, where Dharkon ominously awaited.
Prior Marx appearing to them, Pit's thoughts went immediately into overdrive once he realized Dharkon wasn't in the strange dimension as Meta Knight had said. And therefore, if the monster wasn't there, that logically meant Palutena wasn't there either. If she wasn't there, then that meant the monster had her in its clutches.
And logically, she was crying for Pit's name as her body was being molested by the monster's tendrils! The thought of her godly physique being held tightly by darkness was truly a horrendous sight!
...
Well, perhaps the last thing wasn't logical at all, but Pit thought that was the worst case scenario. He couldn't just shake the thought once he sprinted out behind everyone's backs, actually gaining a sizable lead as he was halfway through reaching the vortex.
Pit was too focused on running he didn't notice Sonic running next to him. "So here you are, yelling like a maniac," Sonic said.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!" Pit yelled like a maniac.
"Yeah, Meta Knight told me to catch up to you to see if you're okay, so I was like, 'Pfft! You know who I am, right?' and ran at the speed o' sound to get to you."
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!"
"You're fighting that monster alone? Well, look, I usually like to do things solo, but my friends - not the weirdos we're both with - always get in on the action and I can't tell 'em to go away. I know I can handle things for myself a lot of the times, but this one? That's asking for trouble this time. I know you're an angel of some squad, but this is probably outta your league."
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!"
"Really? You don't care? Wow. You remind me of me, when I was young and naive... Oh, wait. I'm still young, but I lost my pot belly."
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!"
"Fiiiiiiiiine, you can go solo if you want, but I'll stick 'round just in case you put your two feet in your mouth. This time, I'd rather have like...30 people backing me up. You don't, so suit yourself."
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!"
Sonic sighed. "Okay, I'm sick of pretending you're talking to me with your screams. SAY SOMETHING I CAN UNDERSTAND!" Alas, Sonic never got an answer, not even when Pit reached the void of darkness and jumped right into the fray with guns blazing, Dharkon looming high above and calling forth a barrier to impede people from getting in the way...
The hedgehog, meanwhile, sat on a rock by the edge of the void to watch the epic final battle of the ages, arms resting on his legs. "Reminds me when I bailed everyone out when I took butterfly man's wings down. Ahh, memories..." he reminisced.
Key Notes:
FINAL BOSS: Dharkon
- The ample way to describe this boss fight is that Dharkon fights more chaotically than Galeem did. Its attacks still aim for you, but its movements are erratic.
- Watch out for the mines it deploys. They explode diagonally, taking the whole screen. You can take them down to avoid getting mercilessly damaged. (Galeem's mines instead had horizontal and vertical explosions.)
- Dharkon can still summon kamikaze copies of fights that will try to hurt you before exploding. Be careful not to get caught in the range, and certainly do NOT waste your time fighting them.
- By the way, the fighters you barely see in the cutscene are all fighters you are forced to get prior reaching it no matter what you do. Don't expect minor differences. You cannot miss getting any of them.
